Today’s poem was part of a special launch schedule during National Poetry Month from April 1—30, 2024. I posted a new poem daily for 17 days and then got knocked off schedule because…I moved! This challenge restarted on May 1 and continues for the 13 days I missed. The final summary of all poems will be sent to all subscribers on May 24 and otherwise can be viewed for free in the archives here. Thank you for being here!
“WHERE HAVE ALL THE WOMEN GONE?”
Where have all the women gone? They left before the war. Ladies first, take the glitter and run, The guns are not for you. Bodies, keep them as placeholders. Softness is a commodity. In came the league of Johns and Jacks Boom, bang, pow, pow, strategy! Disrupt it all, end up nowhere, Make it sound all mighty. Now they complain about disappearing wives? They were as gone as Amy Dunne A long, long time ago.
P.S.
I opened an email in my inbox today from a tech bro startup founder guy who I usually find quite palatable, if not always useful. He proceeded to share four links, all from four white men he deemed worth sharing that week (two of them were named Jack). Could be pure coincidence, but it’s still disappointing. And frankly, now it’s starting to get embarrassing. Anyway, I’ve been sitting here trying to conjure up a subject for today’s poem so thank you, tech bro, for the inspiration. I had fun writing this. Note to all: I do not condone murder and the views expressed in this poem do not reflect my views on people named John or Jack. I do, however, support all the calculating women of the world. Thank god for poetry.
