Today’s poem is part of a special launch schedule during National Poetry Month from April 1—30, 2024. I’ll be posting a new poem daily for 30 days, which will be sent out to all subscribers as a summary on April 30 and otherwise can be viewed for free in the archives here. Thank you for being here!
“AFTER SUN”
If the sun could cry, does it shoot sparks or weep steam? If you were the sun, would you shine bright or incinerate everything on sight? There are two ways to look at everything. One of them is true, the other hanging off a fig tree.
P.S.
This is so far the fastest poem I’ve written for this project and maybe ever? Two minutes start to finish. It doesn’t really sound like me, admittedly. Maybe more a conceptual thought than a polished and complete poem. But I like it enough to post it.
